Wastewater recycling holds tremendous importance for both environmental sustainability and resource management, especially for industry, as water shortage happens more frequently than in the past due to extreme weather conditions. Wastewater recycling is not only eco-friendly but also cost-saving for corporations. In wastewater treatment, the smart embedded systems make every step crystal clear for real-time monitoring. They collect data and control devices and the SCADA gives us a clear view of everything.
Workstation for Alerts and Data Processing
In the wastewater treatment plant, the workstation is the king. More than receiving data from edge devices for real-time monitoring, it also manages alerts and data visualization when anomalies happen in the working process. As everyday data is processed, it is also being analyzed at this point for future optimization. Moreover, process control is a crucial function, while the workstation is often integrated with a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, it provides operators with a comprehensive overview of the entire treatment process. Then according to the historical data, managers can optimize the process. For a workstation that balances performance, power consumption, cost, and scalability for possible future upgrades, we recommend the ATX motherboard, the IMB540.
High-Performance
The 13th Gen Intel® Core™ CPU, four DDR4 slots with up to 128G of memory, and an M.2 key M 2280 slot for storage accelerate processing capability and data read and write. In addition to providing high computing performance, the IMB540 ATX motherboard features quad displays and dual GPU expansion
Upgradability & Expansion
Two PCIe Gen4 x16 slots and three PCIe x4 slots make the board can be expanded according to the applications, such as GPU, AI acceleration, frame grabber, and motion control card configurations. Moreover, one PCI Express Mini Card slot with SIM slot supports a module for wireless connection to receive data. Also, the 2.5G LAN provides high-speed data transmission. Therefore, the workstation can acquire parameter data from edge devices and send the data directly to the cloud for advanced use.
Automated Chemical Dosing Control System
With less workforce, some jobs have to be automated, especially those that demand precise judgment, such as chemical dosing. We've simplified automatic and real-time dosing for wastewater treatment using on-site sensors and gateways. These gateways handle basic data tasks, making things smoother. For example, if the sensor finds that disinfection dosing isn't enough, the gateway can step in and automatically add the needed agents using the DIO interface. A DIO input channel connects a sensor that measures important factors like water quality, turbidity, pH, and flow rate. When certain conditions are met, the sensor sends a signal to the gateway's DIO input channel. This then prompts the sensors to activate a response through devices, setting off more actions.
At the field site to collect data from smart sensors and meters, we recommend the economical lightweight compact gateway, the ICO120-E3350. The ICO120-E3350 features fanless operation, -40°C to 70°C operating temperature range, and 9V to 36V DC wide power input. Driven by the Intel® Celeron® processor N3350, with rich I/O for data collection, it provides two DB9 ports with COM/CAN/DIO selections, two USB 2.0, and two GbE LAN ports. For wireless transmission, a PCI Express Mini Card slot with a SIM slot will do the work.
Compact Size & Low Power
The ICO120-E3350 is just palm-sized, which is easy to deploy in space-constrained field sites. The Intel® Celeron® N3350 keeps power consumption low.
Flexible I/O Interface
The ICO120-E3350 provides a flexible I/O interface for the OT field site. Two DB9 ports provide options for COM/CAN/DIO, allowing integrators and users to opt for the combination they need.
Data Visualization, Monitoring and Control
HMI (Human Machine Interface) / touch panel PCs are necessary equipment in modern wastewater treatment plants, providing operators with an interactive platform to monitor and control various aspects of the treatment process with visualized data. Considering that touch panel PCs are usually installed in semi-outdoor sites, the platform should be waterproof and durable. Also, rich connectivity to connect with other field site devices is a must-have as well. To visualize real-time data for management, it should have medium to high performance.
The GOT818A-TGL-WCD is the 18.5" FHD TFT IP66 & IP69K-rated stainless steel fanless touch panel PC with a flat bezel LCD display. The low power and waterproof features make it the best choice for challenging semi-outdoor field sites.
Extraordinary Durability
The panel PC features an IP66/IP69K-rated (NEMA 4X) water/dust/corrosion-proof design. What is more, all the I/O connectors are M12-type. Also, the wide operating temperature range is from -20°C to +50°C.
Processing Capability & Connectivity
The GOT818A-TGL-WCD is powered by the Intel® Core™ i5-1145G7E processor, integrated with Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics to assist with data visualization and dashboard creation. The integrated graphics can render alarms and display data updates. With two COM and one 2.5G LAN port, the touch panel PC can collect data from smart field devices.
