Due to the response to the concerns of the human
health and environmental impact associated with the use of certain
environmentally sensitive materials in electronic products, the European
Union (EU) has drafted the Directive on the Restriction of the use
of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS), which restricts the use of
Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)), lead (Pb)
and Polybrominated biphenyls and Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs)
in electronic products. This directive will be implemented in Europe
, beginning July 2006.
Within
this environment, AXIOMTEK is actively implementing a transition
to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliance in response
to concerns about the environmental impact of hazardous substances
used in electrical products. We plan to comply with the RoHS Directive
requirements prior to the July 2006 EU implementation deadline and
will continue to incorporate these changes over all product lines.
To comply with the RoHS, all AXIOMTEK product groups are developing
plans and strategies to support customers ' RoHS-compliant product
needs. AXIOMTEK offers RoHS-compliant solutions for all product lines,
including industrial single boards, single board computers, panel
computers, IPC chassis, IA modules and peripherals, embedded computing
platforms, network appliances and ATX power systems. Pilot-testing
of products will begin later 2005, with 90% of our RoHS-compliant
samples scheduled for testing during Q1, 2006 or before.

We will track the "Green Status" of all materials in
our SAP system after all RoHS-compliance data is collected. Our Purchasing
Department will send a material survey form to vendors, and then
deliver the survey results to our DCC. DCC will then update the green
status of components on the SAP system based on these results. Our
Product Division (PD) uses the SAP system to compile the BOM (Bill-Of-Materials),
and identifies lead-free materials through the Green Status field.
We also ask our suppliers to paste a Green Product label on packing
to distinguish from lead and lead-free materials. How can customers
find out which products are RoHS-compliant, or to request a compliant
product? AXIOMTEK RoHS compliant products have a product number ending
with the letter "E". Customers may contact their local
sales representative with requests for qualification data or samples
of a RoHS-compliant product.
At AXIOMTEK, we understand the need for environmentally-friendly
business practices, demonstrated through our long-standing commitment
to the health of the environment. AXIOMTEK will continue to work
closely together with vendors/ suppliers to reduce hazardous substances
in the manufacturing process and components to ensure that we can
provide our customers with products that fully comply with the RoHS
directive.
